About Ms. Canales
My name is Heather Canales, and I am a 2nd and 3rd Grade Instructional Lead Teacher for AZACS. My birthday is September 17th and this year I will be 25! I am originally from Northern California (Beach Cities), however, I've lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arizona is where I now call home. I have 3 of my own beautiful children who I spend all of my time cooking, traveling and dancing with.
I am currently going to school at Grand Canyon University (Go Lopes!) to obtain my BAS in Gen Ed and Special Ed. I've been working in special education and specifically with Autism for over 10 years, and my long term goal is to teach, coach teachers/families and obtain my BCBA! I have training in conscious discipline, ABA, CPR/First aid, disability identification, modified curriculum, cross-curricular teaching and many, many others.
This is my first year here at AZACS, so I'm very excited to grow and learn with you as well as this amazing school. I have never seen or heard of anything like this, and could not be more blessed to embark on this journey with such a supportive community with such a strong structure and foundation.
